I booked a seven-days return ticket from Emirates airline to Lahore Punjab Pakistan. The flight was good as expected and food was nice as well. The layover in Dubai International airport was for 2 hour and 45 minutes. Bought some gifts and chocolates from the duty free shops and took the second flight.
Day 1: Arrival and First Feelings
Arrival at Allama Iqbal International Airport
As this was International airport of Lahore Punjab Pakistan, cleared the security, picked my luggage and chauffer was already waiting to pick me up. Checked-in at the Pearl Continental Hotel(PC). I have linked few best hotel recommendations. Whether you want to in a luxury hotel or a cozy guest house, you will find numerous options according to your budget.
Visit Mall Road Lahore Punjab Pakistan
I started my first adventure visiting down Mall Road, Mall Road is one of the most famous roads in the city. Historical buildings lined up with shopping malls and eateries, a perfect mix to old and new Lahore.
Badshahi Mosque and Minar-e-Pakistan
In the afternoon went to the Badshahi Mosque Lahore, its one of the largest Mosques in the world. Its vast courtyard is capable of accommodating 55,000 worshipers. Its red sandstone exterior and marble inlays represents the rich cultural heritage.
Badshahi Mosque was constructed by Emperor Aurangzeb in 1673, architectural marvel of Mughal era. This mosque is not only a place of worship but also an artistic history of Mughal Empire.
Dinner at Cooco’s Den
Cooco’s is in the historic neighborhood of Old Lahore. Famous for its stunning rooftop views of the Badshahi Mosque and of course the mouth watering Lahori Cuisine. This dining experience i will never forget.
Day 2: Dive into History
Lahore Fort and Shalimar Gardens Lahore Punjab Pakistan
Started my day with a visit to the Lahore Fort, a UNESCO world heritage site. Lahore Fort is also know as Shahi Qila, located in the heart of Lahore, built during the reign of Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century. This fort features stunning palaces, halls and gardens, each styled with marbles and tile work. Lahore Fort also includes Sheesh Mahal (Palace of Mirrors) and the Naulakha Pavilion. The Fort stands as a symbol of power and beauty.
Next visited Shalimar Garden, another UNESCO world Heritage site built in 1641 by Emperor Shah Jahan. This garden is a stunning example of Mughal Landscaping and architectural design. The garden has three terraces, each represents a different level of paradise. The beauty and historical significance of this garden makes it a popular destination for the tourists and locals.
Andaaz Restaurant Lunch
Andaaz offers a fine dinning experience with traditional Pakistani food with a great view of the Badshahi Mosque and Shahi Qila. Chicken Karahi with special yogurt was the best.
Day 3: Cultural Immersion
Walled City of Lahore
I started my day visiting the Walled City of Lahore. Wandering through the narrow streets and busy bazaars with very old ancient buildings, reached Lahore Museum and it was a great experience. On the way back went for a quick short glimpse of Wazir Khan Mosque.
Street Food Tour
Lahore is famous for its street food and you can find street food almost everywhere in Lahore. I went to visit the famous Gawalmandi close to Anarkali Bazaar and enjoyed golgappa, samosas and falooda.
Alhamra Arts Council
On the way back to the hotel, stopped at Alhamra Arts Council, Watched a cultural performance and it was am amazing experience of the artistic play. The council also hosts dance show, musical performance and theatre.
Day 4: Nature and Serenity
Jilani Park (Racecourse Park)
I started my day with a peaceful walk in Jilani Park, This park is famous for its beautiful landscapes and vibrant flower shows. This park also host big food festivals and concerts. This park has a big water fall and flows through to the park. Its a great place to relax and enjoy nature.
Lahore Zoo
Afterwards, I visited the Lahore Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the world, established in 1872 and spans over 25 acres with diverse collections of animals. It’s a fun outing for animal lovers, wildlife conservation and education.
Lunch at Peeru’s Café
For Lunch, Went to Peeru’s Cafe, a unique blend of great food with art and culture. They do host live performances and art exhibitions.
Sozo Water Park
In the afternoon, visited at the Sozo Water Park. It is a long drive along the canal towards the border side with India. Its has different water slides and pools, it’s a perfect spot to beat the heat and have some fun.
Day 5: Shopping and Souvenirs
Liberty Market
After having breakfast at the hotel, left for morning shopping at Liberty market. From traditional clothes and jewelry to modern fashion and accessories, you can buy everything from here and the prices were reasonable too.
Lunch at Salt’n Pepper Village
For lunch, visit Salt’n Pepper Village, enjoyed variety of Pakistani dishes in a village-themed setting. the quality and taste of food was great and i loved it.
Fortress Stadium
In the afternoon, I went to explore Fortress Stadium, hub for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Visit the Fortress Square Mall and Joyland amusement park.
Day 6: Day Trip to Wagah Border
Wagah Border Ceremony
Took a day trip to Wagha Border to witness the famous flag-lowering ceremony. This ceremony takes place on the border of Pakistan and India every evening, people gather on the both sides to witness this event, which involves an aggressive parade by the soldiers and lowering the flags.
Lunch at Monal Lahore
On the way back to the hotel, stopped for lunch at Monal Lahore. Located on the rooftop of a high-rise building near Liberty round-about, it offers panoramic views of the whole city and delicious food.
Day 7: Farewell Lahore
Visit to Data Darbar
Started my last day, visiting Data Darbar Lahore, is a deeply spiritual experience. Its the shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Data Ganj Baksh, millions of devotees come each year to visit them. Data Darbar stands as a beacon of faith, spirituality, and cultural heritage in the heart of Lahore.
Lunch at Haveli Restaurant Lahore
For a final taste of Lahore, went for lunch at Haveli Restaurant in the heart of Old Lahore. The view of Badshahi Mosque from the rooftop is breathtaking and the as usual for amazing and full of flavors.
Departure
After spending a memorable week, it was time to head to the airport with a heart full of beautiful memories and a promise to return, a big list of places to visit in Lahore was on hold.
