The 4 Pairs of Shoes You Need for Fall
Fall is a glorious time in Michigan. The leaves turn beautiful, burning fall colors, the heat and humidity finally dies down, and we're left with a cool, crisp breeze rather than air that feels like you're living in a giant armpit. I. Love. Fall. One of the biggest reasons that fall is my favorite season is the fashion. I'm all for the floral, lace and boho pieces that always come back around in the springtime, but I am more of a sleek, modern, everything black kind of gal. I love leather, suede, coats and boots. I love getting to pick out my scarf, gloves, hat, coat etc. rather than just what I will sweat the least in like I do all summer.
My shoe wardrobe needed a bit of an update this season, so I was browsing what's available online right now since fall stuff has started hitting shelves (typically, stores bring out fall stuff starting late July / early August). I took a look at Steve Madden's site and that's about as far as I got. If you're feet need (by need, I mean want) some new digs this season, check out these must have's for this fall.
Block Heel Pumps
These beautiful, beautiful pumps will help to slim thick calves as well as give you quite a bit more stability than a stiletto heel. And these colors, I can't even handle, I want them all.
Point Toe Booties
A pointed toe helps to elongate the length of your legs as the toe will extend quite a bit further than your actual toes would. Booties have been a necessary staple for the last few years, and it doesn't look like they're going anywhere anytime soon - other than into our closets, so stock up.
Now, before you say, "yeah right, I can't wear those," let me tell you that these boots will look great on you. These boots are no longer just for the 20-somethings and do not have the same stuck-in-the-disco-era vibe that they did for a while. Wear them with your favorite sweater dress, a pleated skirt or a simple shift dress. To elongate legs, keep the color palette monotone - so if they're beige, stick to tans and whites. If they're black, stick to blacks, navys and darker hues.
Ankle Strap Heels
Just in case you've been living under a rock for the last few seasons, ankle straps are where it's at. It's actually becoming harder and harder to find heels without an ankle strap, so why not jump on the bandwagon. If you've got bulky calves, stick with a thin strap in a nude shade so that the strap doesn't break up the length of your leg. If you've got thick ankles, choose a color darker than your skin tone, or a thicker strap size. If you're looking to add some shape to stickly, willowy legs, go for a bright or lighter color.
